Ingredients
4-6 thick slices or wholewheat bread
3 eggs
1 cup of milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground pumpkin pie spice
1 tablespoon butter
Orange Syrup
1 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon orange marmalade
Cooking Instructions
If desired, slice the crusts off of the bread slices (they make good bread crumbs).
Combine the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and spice in a bowl or blender.
Soak the bread slices in the batter, turning the slices once ensuring that both sides are soaked through.
Bring a light oiled saucepan to medium-high heat.
Add a tablespoon or so of butter and swirl it over the surface of the pan, then add the bread slices.
Turn them over when the bottom is the desired shade of golden brown and cook the second side.
To make the orange syrup. Mix ingredients together and serve warm. Refrigerate any leftover syrup.
